FAQS

  1. Is the scope of programs limited to the actual delivery of energy efficiency measures, or are education programs such as an education series for neighborhood advocates also eligible for funding?

    1. The scope of programs must include the delivery of energy efficiency measures OR energy industry workforce development investments OR technologies to enhance grid reliability. A program may include education programs as a feature of that effort but should include a direct investment in the measures written above.

  2. The application is to fund a program but the bonus questions are specific to a project - do you want a pipeline project example to be used for the bonus questions?

    1. The application is meant to fund a program with existing projects underway. The word “project” under the short answer bonus questions should be changed to “program” to remain consistent with the rest of the application. The change is now reflected in the application.

  3. Are projects that enhance energy affordability, energy industry workforce development, energy conservation, and technologies to enhance grid reliability at public schools eligible? Can school districts apply for this fund? Or, could a non-profit apply for a project at a school?

    1. The grant program is specifically meant to support programs that reduce household energy cost or support workforce development for workers in residential energy efficiency. Given the emphasis on reducing household energy burden, public school building investments are not an eligible use of funds.

  4. Is this grant available to a project anywhere in the state of Ohio? Or must it be located in the Columbus region?

    1. This grant is available to a project anywhere in the State of Ohio.

  5. Is there a cap on administrative costs?

    1. There is an up to 20% cap on administrative costs for this grant. Programs with lower administrative fees may be preferred to maximize impact to end recipients.

  6. Can the program be made available to Ohio residents above 80% AMI to increase access to weatherization services for those who are not eligible according to the state’s current weatherization program.

    1. As of 2/14/2025 the program has been adjusted to include Ohio residents up to 100% area median income. This change is now reflected in the application.
